John Eastwood has many years of professional experience counseling clients both within the Asia region and on both sides of the Strait in Greater China. He is a noted expert on compliance issues, including the handling of U.S. Foreign Corrupt Practices Act and other white-collar crime matters, from employee training through to proper handling of investigations. In John’s role chairing the European Chamber of Commerce Taiwan (ECCT) Intellectual Property Rights Committee for the past many years, he has worked closely with the European Commission, U.S. State Department, prominent academics, and local government authorities on intellectual-property policy matters.

Representative Work:

  • Coordinated a U.S. defense contractor’s response to a Taiwan prosecutorial investigation into the pricing of spare parts and whether downstream importers had engaged in a kickback scheme.
  • Regularly conducts training for American companies and NYSE-listed companies on fair-trade, corporate ethics and FCPA compliance matters.
  • Coordinated a U.S. chip-designer’s investigation into massive amounts of chips being stolen from the Taiwan foundry and sold in the PRC.
  • Coordinated a U.S. semiconductor giant’s investigation into the theft of trade secrets by a senior officer, preventing his transmission of the data to PRC competitors.
